The firmament, the dome, and the waters above

The solid expanse God set in the midst of the waters — stretched out like a curtain or a tent, with waters above it and the lights placed in it.

    In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

The storehouses and windows of heaven

Above the firmament are God’s treasuries — the storehouses of the snow and the hail, the bottles of the clouds, and the windows of heaven He opens to pour out the rain.

The sea gathered and set within bounds

The waters under heaven gathered to one place, the dry land appearing, and the sea shut up behind doors and a decree it cannot pass.

The immovable, stationary earth

The earth is established and set fast — it cannot be moved, but abides in its place forever.

The earth rests on pillars and foundations laid by God, with the deep beneath and the heavens fastened above.

The four corners and the edges of the earth

The earth has corners and ends — the four quarters from which the winds blow and to which judgment reaches.
